Dr. Yvonne Hindes

Registered Psychologist

Dr. Yvonne Hindes is a Registered Psychologist who obtained her Ph.D. in School and Applied Child Psychology from the University of Calgary. Her MSc. research primarily focused on resiliency and theory of mind in individuals with Asperger’s Disorder, and her Ph.D research focused on instrument construction, youth leadership, and program evaluation. More recent research interests and initiatives have focused on academic stress, psychological flourishing, and resilience in online university students.

Since completing her clinical training, Dr. Yvonne has gained 10+ years of extensive clinical experience through her work with public school boards, private schools, clinics, and private practice. Specifically, she has extensive training and experience conducting psychological assessments in the areas of Intellectual Disabilities, Specific Learning Disorders, Giftedness, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder. She takes a strength-based and collaborative approach to supporting to her clients.

In addition to her clinical work in the field of psychology, Dr. Yvonne has also held academic positions with Yorkville University, Athabasca University, and the University of Calgary. She has taught in both online programs and in more traditional in-person programs, and has taught over 100 courses, spanning different areas including, but not limited to, ethics, research, statistics, assessment, interventions, child development, mental health, and program evaluation. She has also provided supervision to Master’s and Ph.D students as well as provisional psychologists.

Dr. Yvonne currently lives in Calgary with her husband, David, and dog, Dora, and enjoys relaxing and spending time with them, but she is also a farm-girl at heart and enjoys spending time with her family at her parents’ acreage just outside of Red Deer. She is also an avid Calgary Stampeders and Flames fan.
