Dr. Sandra Dixon

Registered Psychologist

Dr. Sandra Dixon is a Registered Psychologist in Alberta who earned her Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary. She completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Professional Psychology at the University of British Columbia’s Counselling Services. She is also a Certified Professional Life Coach. Currently, she is a Tenured Associate Professor at the University of Lethbridge.

Dr. Dixon’s program of research explores culturally safe and socially informed counselling practices among immigrants and refugees, cultural identity reconstruction, and ethno-cultural diversity issues including but not limited to the intersectionality of spirituality/religion, class, race, gender, and social justice across cultural contexts.

Embracing a stance of cultural humility, curiosity and nonjudgement, she provides care to clients struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, self-wellness, stress, relationship issues, perfectionism, anger management, Afro-Caribbean diasporic migration issues, family conflict, racial identity, self esteem, self-exploration and personal growth.

Dr. Dixon is committed to providing culturally equitable, diverse and inclusive services to people of all ethno-racial backgrounds and socio-cultural identities. She strives to practice in a compassionate manner, welcoming adult clients of all gender, races, ethnicities, and spiritual or religious affiliations.

In her leisure time, she enjoys self-wellness activities such as exercising, nature walks, journaling, travelling, reading, engaging in faith-based practices, connecting with her family and friends, and caring for her plants.
