Registered Provisional Psychologist

Claire McGuinness is a Registered Provisional Psychologist and a Doctoral Candidate in the School and Applied Child Psychology program at the University of Calgary, where she also earned her Master of Science degree. Her doctoral research focuses on building a model of student engagement that incorporates protective factors such as resilience, flourishing, and academic motivation.

Claire is skilled in delivering psycho-educational and social-emotional assessments in both private practice and school-based settings. She also conducts autism assessments with consultation. Claire has extensive experience assessing and diagnosing conditions such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disorders, intellectual disabilities, language disorders, anxiety, and depression. In her counselling practice, Claire works with children, teens, and adults, taking a strength-based and collaborative approach to support individuals in understanding their unique learning, emotional, and behavioural profiles.

Passionate about fostering growth and well-being, Claire helps children and youth thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally, while also providing meaningful support to adults through tailored assessments and counselling services.

Outside of her professional work, Claire enjoys baking, going for runs, and rescuing animals.
