Brian Morgotch

Counsellor

Brian has 17 years of supporting children, youth, and caregivers within both community-based mental health treatment centers, as well as within the public education system. His experience working with individuals and families who have experienced significant trauma, mental illness, as well as social, emotional, and behavioral challenges has placed Brian in a unique position within public education to continue to hone his counselling and consultative skills. Brian has a strong reputation for being highly passionate about supporting students, their families, and education staff to navigate and overcome challenges that may arise within the educational and/or family system.

Based on his unique experience and as part of his current professional role, Brian is a highly valued educational professional, continuing to provide counselling and mental health consultation to students, caregivers, educational professionals, as well as allied professionals regarding the intersection between mental illness, behavioral challenges, healthy coping, and educational success. Brian has expertise in assessing and identifying learning challenges, mental health difficulties and environmental factors to help guide his approach to counselling and intervention. Brian’s passion is supporting both adult learners and school-aged students to identify their own strengths to help remove roadblocks in their lives, as they navigate the road to social, emotional, behavioral and academic success.

As a professional educator with a passion for counselling, Brian considers himself to be a life-long learner who is continuing his passion for learning and supporting others by completing the last of the requirements before receiving his Master’s Degree in Counselling. Brian is a leader in espousing and utilizing strength-based counselling approaches in supporting clients. He is a highly sought after member of Hexagon’s Treatment Team as a result of his unique experience working in both mental health treatment centers and public education. As such, he is well respected for his collaborative approach when supporting students and families across life domains such as home, school, and community settings. Through his professional experience, Brian also understands the benefit of consulting with allied professionals involved in an individuals’ unique journey to overcome challenges while striving for success.

When not honing his educational, counselling, and mental health consultative skills, Brian loves spending time with his wife, 2 daughters, and dog, in Calgary, AB. He enjoys being active playing hockey, spending time hiking, mountain biking and camping in the mountains. During the spring Brian has been coaching high school rugby.
